Something is making you contemplate switching fertility doctors. You may know exactly why you want to move on, or maybe you just have a feeling that it is time for a change. Finding a good fertility doctor can be quite a process, so it is understandable that you want to be sure it is time to do so. Plus, you have put your trust in your current doctor and they know all about you. You don’t want to just abandon ship on an impulse.

There are some telltale signs that it is time to move on. If any of these pertain to you, you may want to consider looking into other Houston fertility specialists and seeing what else is out there.

Use this checklist to help determine whether or not that time has come for you.

Signs That It May Be Time To Move On

It has been a long time since you have seen your fertility doctor.

You saw your specialist quite a bit when you were just getting started with blood work, analysis, and initial introductions. Yet, since you have started the actual treatment you have seen your doctor less and less. That one on one time is a necessity when it comes to feeling confident about the process that you are going through. Your doctor is the one who helped you make a plan, they should be by your side to see it through and be accessible for any concerns you may have along the way. If it doesn’t feel like they are making you a priority, it is easy to start feeling forgotten. This is the last thing you want to feel from your doctor.

Your treatment has become just another task on the monthly schedule.

Your doctor should be treating each cycle as an opportunity to learn more about your body and what it is that is going on with you. If you have a had a lot of unsuccessful cycles and feel in the dark about why -- something is not right. Each treatment that does not work should be followed by a conversation constructing a plan with the next approach that you are going to take.

Your doctor or the other employees in the clinic do not speak to you in a way that gives you a sense of encouragement.

You are probably already feeling a little crappy about things and your doctor or nurses should not be making you feel any worse than you already do. A visit to the clinic should remind you why there is hope and provide you with the invigoration to keep trying. If you don’t feel safe and well taken care of in this environment, it is most definitely time go somewhere else.

You have been with this doctor for a long time and you just need a fresh start.

People come to this conclusion all of time and it is a more than acceptable reason. Usually, when you feel like something needs to change there is a good reason for it. If you aren’t seeing any results and you feel that you need a fresh perspective, that does not mean that you are quitting or make you a bad person. Good doctors understand that people need to make the decisions for themselves that they feel are best. This is not about their feelings, it is about you and doing what you need to do.

    Put Yourself First

Change can be intimidating, but if you can sense that it is time, then embrace it. Sometimes it takes a new fertility clinic to discover the thing that your other doctor was missing. It is natural to feel guilty about leaving a relationship of any kind, but you have to listen to your gut about what is right for you. Whatever happens, you do not want to come out feeling any regrets.

If you are considering trying a new doctor, you can start investigating other Houston fertility specialists just to see what options are available to you. Make an appointment to test if you feel any chemistry with another doctor. It never hurts to survey your options. Do what you need to do to continue giving yourself the chance that you deserve.
