What to Expect at your First Appointment
Review of Medical Records
We ask that you request medical records from your OB/GYN, Primary Care Physician, or previous REI (infertility) physician. Specifically, we need your latest pap smear results (current within 1 year), mammogram, any gynecology operative reports or procedures, documentation notes on office visits, fertility therapy, any diagnostic testing already performed, any lab tests performed in the last 18 months. Please submit your medical records, preferably 2 or more days before your scheduled appointment so that we have time to review them. If you bring the records with you to your appointment, it may prolong the actual time you spend in the office.
Consultation with a physician
At the consultation, the physician will obtain a detailed history and further assess your infertility issues.
Exam
This physical exam allows the physician to assess any findings that may contribute to your infertility diagnosis. This exam usually includes a vaginal ultrasound to look at the ovaries and uterus. Vaginal cultures are obtained during this exam.
Plan
Formulation of a treatment plan or diagnostic testing schedule.
The estimated total time for your first appointment is usually 1 1/2 hours. This can vary if you bring records with you or if you have extensive issues.
